Washington, May 7, 2003 - The Government Reform Committee has approved a bill which would make major changes in how the federal government buys goods and services worth billions of dollars. While the aim of the bill is to "streamline" the federal purchasing process, in key areas its effect will be to diminish the government's ability to protect taxpayer dollars against waste, fraud, and abuse.
