March 14, 2002, Rep. Waxman sent a letter signed by 239 Members
of Congress urging President Bush to take action against Palestinian
terrorist groups. The letter called on the President to add several
militant groups, organized under the Palestinian Liberation Organization
and funded by Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian Authority, to the
U.S. list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO). Shortly after,
the Al-Aqsa Martyr's Brigade was added to the FTO list.

Text of the Resolution
On
December 10, 2002, Rep. Waxman joined 22 Members of Congress in
a letter urging the Bush Administration to prohibit U.S. companies
from advertising on Al Manar, a Lebanese television station connected
to the terrorist organization Hezbollah. Although the State Department
has acknowledged links between Al Manar and Hezbollah the ads may
be considered legal because the Treasury Department never designated
the station as an organization subject to foreign asset controls.
