League of Conservation Voters Statement in Support of Waxman Global Warming Bill
WASHINGTON, DC - League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement in support of Representative Waxman's Safe Climate Act introduced today in the House:
"We applaud Representative Waxman for his leadership in offering real solutions to help curb global warming.
Global warming is clearly the single biggest environmental challenge we face - and this legislation is the sea change we need to address this problem.
This bill would significantly reduce global warming pollution by 80 percent by 2050 through increasing our use of renewable energy, improving energy efficiency and requiring cleaner cars. The bill also offers a "cap and trade" program that provides flexibility to help companies meet pollution reduction goals.
We look forward to working with Representative Waxman to pass this important legislation."
